Simple Minds' original lineup will record music together again for the first time in 27 years.
Jim Kerr, Brian McGree, Derek Forbes, Mick McNeil and Charlie Burchill have booked studio sessions for the summer.
Speaking about the new material, Kerr told NME: "Of course I am excited with the prospect of working with the original lineup once more.
"The last time we worked together was on our Sons And Fascination/Sister Feelings Call album, featuring songs like 'The American', 'Themes For Great Cities' and 'Love Song', and it is still considered by many as among our best ever work.
"We have a lot to live up to, but we intend to have some fun attempting to do just that."
The group recently announced a 30th anniversary tour, which includes dates at Manchester's MEN and Wembley Arena.
