The singer, who is currently promoting Coldplay's Viva La Vida LP, accused presenter John Wilson of "journalistically twisting" his words.
Martin said he wanted to leave the interview after being asked whether the new record was a reflection of the band's obsession with death.
"I wouldn't agree with you there at all, no," said Martin. "I'd say you're journalistically twisting me into saying something I don't really mean."
The frontman told Wilson that was he was not "enjoying" the interview and left drummer Will Champion to answer the remaining questions.
Martin returned to the studio for the final question, which was about the group moving into new musical territory.
"Um.... yes... yes, yes... exactly," he answered.
