Boyzone: 'Better'

By
Boyzone: 'Better'
Released on Tuesday, Dec 2 2008

Having witnessed the phenomenal return of Take That, and the slightly less impressive Spice Girls reunion tour, it was no surprise when Boyzone announced they were jumping on the comeback bandwagon. It seems to have worked though, and after a sell-out live tour, the "boys" are now chancing it with a second single from their updated Greatest Hits collection.

While comeback tune 'Love You Anyway' was an upbeat, sixties-indebted offering, 'Better' finds the group returning to the romantic ballads with which they made their name. Originally performed by Cornish singer-songwriter Tom Baxter, it's a gooey love song that warms the cockles with its simple hook: "And no matter what the day is, with you here it's better." It's about as groundbreaking as a fried egg sandwich, but this track is sure to satisfy Boyzone fans eagerly awaiting a new studio album.
