The Killers: 'Spaceman'

By
Released on Monday, Feb 9 2009

Suspend, just for a minute, your disbelief. Imagine being ripped from your bed by a gaggle of little green men, having your blood taken against your will and waking up with a "strange impression" in your head. Well, how does that sound? Terrifying? Horribly invasive? Just plain ridiculous? Not according to The Killers.

'Spaceman', the second single from their Day & Age album, actually makes alien abduction sound like a bit of a hoot. It's their most feelgood tune in ages - a proper synth-pop fist-pumper with an arena-ready chorus and enjoyably daft lyrics about "zipping white light beams" and "global position systems". Brandon Flowers even dresses up like a Dr Who extra from 1979 in the video and manages to get away with it. Respect.
