The Veronicas: '4ever'

By
The Veronicas: '4ever'
Released on Monday, Sep 28 2009

Let's start by confronting the elephant in the room. Yes, the new Veronicas single sounds a bit like Pink's 'U + Ur Hand', a similarity that can be explained - if not excused - by the fact that both songs were written by Max Martin and Dr Luke. However, what you may not realise is that Jess and Lisa's tune actually came first - '4ever' was released in their native Oz way back in 2005.

Phew... now that palaver's out the way, we can discuss the actual song. To put it bluntly, '4ever' is an absolute smash. To put it more precisely, it's a pop-rock stomper with a killer guitar riff, lyrics about seizing the moment and a massive chorus that actually warrants the description "anthemic". When a tune's this good, does it really matter that it sounds a bit like another one?
