Estelle ft. Kardinal Offishall: 'Freak'

By
Estelle - Freak
Released on Monday, May 10 2010

Who knew Estelle fancied herself as the new Margi Clarke? The first single from Miss Swaray's upcoming third album finds her encouraging "every single girl" to "embrace their inner freaky freak" - with an instruction to "kiss him, slap him, pull his hair, make him yo b*tch in here". Eek - no wonder Kardinal Offishall feels the need to temper his otherwise randy guest rap with a plea of "Careful how you handle my drill".

Fortunately, the track itself is almost as ear-snagging as the lyrics. Produced by David Guetta - has he had a day off in the last 12 months? - this 'Freak' is a rubbery, club-ready electro-hop tune that lifts the chorus from Soul II Soul's 'Back To Life (However Do You Want Me)' and turns it into a sexual invitation. So, however do we want it? Well, however Estelle wants to give it to us, to be honest.
