Take That: 'Love Love'

By
Take That 'Love Love'
Released on Wednesday, May 11 2011

It's rare to expect much adulation for a song whose sole purpose is to be played during the end credits of a movie, but Take That's last soundtrack offering 'Rule The World' was a rare exception - going on to be bigger than the film itself, as a staple of X Factor montages and misjudged pub karaoke performances alike. Their latest sees them hooking up with the new X-Men movie, but is using a boyband to front a superhero flick as weird as it initially sounds?

"You bring me right back down to the earth from the promise land," they announce in the opening bars over mud-squelching synths in a camp, Pet Shop Boys-style operatic manner, while the fat 'n' chunky chorus where they command their lovers to "give me what I need" is as immediately satisfying as a large Big Mac meal. Like their recent offerings, it's a style that has transformed them from cheesy boyband to tough manband - the question is, which member is Professor X?
