Stooshe: 'Slip' - Single review

Stooshe 'Slip' single artwork.
Truth be told, we feared the worst for Stooshe when their last single - a cover of TLC's 'Waterfalls' - stalled in the charts and led to their debut album being taken off the release schedule. Since then, they've been holed up in the studio to tweak the LP and record a worthy follow-up to their Brit Award-nominated monster hit 'Black Heart'.

Fortunately, 'Slip' is just that. "If you really, really, really, want to stay in bed you've got to win me over again," they insist, before asking: "Why did you let it slip?" over the same doo-woppy girl group pastiche backing as their previous hits. It's a tricky sound to get right, but with their animated ad-libbing and energy-packed vocals, Stooshe prove they're not out for the count yet.
