Will.i.am ft. Cheryl Cole: 'Heartbreaker'

Will.i.am ft. Cheryl Cole: 'Heartbreaker'
Released on Monday, May 5 2008

On paper it looks like an absolute hoot. Will.i.am, Black Eyed Peas frontman and one of the world's top record producers, hooks up with Cheryl Cole, the Girls Aloud star whose hubbie's infidelity recently gave the tabloids a field month, for a single called 'Heartbreaker'. Sadly, the results don't quite live up to the pitch.

In fact, 'Heartbreaker' is nothing more than an eight-month old cut from Will.i.am's flop solo album that's been tarted up with backing vocals from Cole - and fairly anonymous backing vocals at that. Its slinky disco groove is pleasant enough, but where are the fireworks that this single's very existence seems to promise? We can only presume that the Ashley-bashing rap delivered in a spiky Geordie girl accent got left on the cutting room floor.
