Solomon, Ryder record 'Fairytale of New York'

Stacey Solomon and Shaun Ryder have announced that they are to planning to record a version of The Pogues' classic Christmas anthem 'Fairytale of New York'.

The I'm A Celebrity pair will release the cover of the 1987 track - which also featured vocals from Kirsty MacColl - in the hope of securing the Christmas number one.

Ryder told the Daily Express: "We probably shouldn't because the original is so good. But you can't help meddling."

If the pair manage to record the cover in time for the official Christmas charts, they face stiff competition from X Factor champion Matt Cardle, whose debut single 'When We Collide' is on course for the top spot this Sunday.
