'The Winner's Song', which sees Kay performing as fictional talent show winner Geraldine McQueen, is going head-to-head with Jackson's comeback song 'Don't Call This Love' in this week's singles chart.
Unlike Kay's previous release 'Amarillo', a Comic Relief track, the profits from 'The Winner's Song' will not be donated to charity.
"I think a lot of people will assume Peter Kay's song is for charity, but it's not," Jackson told the Daily Record. "People will be deceived to an extent."
However, Jackson insisted that he is not concerned about the chart battle because he is focusing on his debut album Right Now, which hits stores on Monday.
"At the end of the day I'm just glad my song and my music is finally out there and I'm getting to share it with people," he said. "I want people to buy my single if they like it and if everyone who likes it buys it, then great."
He added: "I'm doing all I can to prove that I have what it takes and that's the end of it."
Jackson was awarded a record contract after winning X Factor's 2007 series, which saw him beating Rhydian Roberts and brother and sister act Same Difference in the final.
