The X Factor winner will perform across the UK with his former show rivals Same Difference later this year.
"It's all about the music for me, and making sure I am doing a good show every night and stay in shape vocally," Jackson told the Daily Record.
"I've been watching live music DVDs like John Mayer, especially with the tour coming out and decisions about my set and layout. I've been doing a lot of research, looking at artists like Sara Bareilles because it's an intimate tour, not like a big arena gig with dancers and pyros. I also went to see James Morrison and The Script play for inspiration."
The 20-year-old, who released his debut album Right Now last year, added that he is "optimistic" about his future in the industry.
"With my forthcoming gigs I just want to give people a glimpse of where I'd like to go as a musician," he continued. "I've been working on my guitar skills for a while, so hopefully I'll showcase them and give a raw acoustic feel to the tour."
Last month, Jackson admitted that he was struggling to compete with his rival X Factor winners Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke.
