The X Factor winner told Radio 1's The Chris Moyles Show that she agreed to save some of the songs for her follow-up record.
Burke said: "I didn't want to rush this album. I know that there was talk about it being released in March. I just think if you're going to do an album and put your all into it, do it properly.
"Even if takes you five years, you need to do it properly because you want to be proud. I tried to get a double-side album, but Simon Cowell's like - no way!"
She added: "There's so many tracks I absolutely love. We've recorded a lot of songs, I requested to do that, we've done about four albums worth of songs.
"I've done a bit of writing, I'm not sure what cuts are going to make the album at the moment. I've put my foot down for a couple of songs but it's a group decision for me because we're all a team and I want to make sure we all love all the tracks on the album."
