McFly 'failed to land X Factor slot'

Danny Jones has revealed that McFly tried and failed to land a guest performance slot on The X Factor.

The singer told the Daily Star that the 'Shine A Light' group wanted to promote their new material on the show but admitted that he knew getting the opportunity was unlikely.

"I'd like to tap into The X Factor market," he told the paper. "We'd like to play on it.

"It dominates everything, that's how they get such big acts on. I think we should push to get on X Factor but I don’t know if it would happen."

He continued: "I think our management have tried and failed. But I think people that go on X Factor come from X Factor. It's all about the team and we're not a part of that."

So far this series, guest performers have included Rihanna, Katy Perry, Michael Bublé, Take That, JLS and last year's winner Joe McElderry.
