Campaigns including 'Cage Against the Machine' and The Trashmen's 'Surfin' Bird' have attracted a following to beat the X Factor winner after Rage Against the Machine's victory over Joe McElderry last year.
When asked about his opinions on the campaigns, he said: "I understand why they do it. I have been too focused on the competition to be really thinking about it an awful lot."
He told STV: "If people want to get something else to number one that's fine… if it's for charity whatever…you can't stop people doing what they want to do."
Cardle's cover of Biffy Clyro's 'Many of Horror (When We Collide)' is on course to be the 2010 Christmas number one.
He added: "I just hope people don't hate on my track because it's a track by a credible band."
"If I'd written the song and it was my first single that got beaten to number one…chased off the number one spot by one of these campaigns then I'd be gutted."
