Speaking to the NME before Cardle's cover of Biffy Clyro's 'Many Of Horror' - retitled 'When We Collide' - topped the seasonal chart, the singer-songwriter explained why he was inspired to release his own Christmas song 'X-M@$.
Taylor said: "Seeing the competition for the Christmas number one, I've come to three conclusions. One: based on the winner of The X Factor, Simon Cowell does not like Biffy.
"Two: based on the winner of The X Factor, Simon Cowell is going deaf. Three: based on the winner of The X Factor, the world needs a little more 'X-M@$' in their lives."
Cardle has said that he understands why there might be a backlash from Biffy Clyro fans against his single but also asked critics to give him a break.
