Matt Cardle: 'I didn't always believe in X Factor song choices'

Last year's X Factor winner Matt Cardle has admitted that he did not always "believe" in the songs he performed on the show.
The musician - whose debut album Letters is released next Monday (October 17) - told ITV1 breakfast show Daybreak that he will never sing a track he does not feel a passion for again.
Cardle said: "I know on The X Factor I sang songs that sometimes I believed in, sometimes I didn't. You know, things like 'Come Together' and 'I Love Rock and Roll'... they're not my favourite songs and I can't put my heart into it."

When host Christine Bleakley asked Cardle if he had found it difficult as the X Factor judges push contestants to deliver heartfelt performances, he added: "Yeah, exactly... sometimes you just can't [do that]. I mean, I think... from now on, that's the last time I sing songs that I don't believe in."
Cardle continued by saying that he believes in new single 'Run for Your Life', explaining: "I wouldn't have chosen the track from Gary [Barlow] if I hadn't have connected with it lyrically as much as I have done."
He also explained that being a co-writer on Letters was "probably the most important thing" in the production process.
Cardle added that working with established songwriters and artists such as Barlow, Richard Stannard, Eg White and Starsailor frontman James Walsh was "incredible".
"It's made the album so much better than it would have been," he said.
