Olly Murs: 'I've had the toughest year of my life'

Olly Murs has described 2011 as "the toughest year of [his] life" in terms of music.
The 'Dance With Me Tonight' singer said that he "worked hard" to shake off his attachment to The X Factor and establish himself as a legitimate recording artist.

"I'm really keen to show people: 'Yes, I'm from The X Factor but I'm not the typical contestant you've had in the past eight years'," he told the Daily Star.
"The last 12 months have been a period of progression - but busy. I've really worked hard. It's been the toughest year of my life, but in a positive way.
"I know that it's very difficult to stay fresh and for people to still like you so it's matured me this year. I now know the industry a lot better and feel I've found my feet."
Murs added that he is looking forward to his debut arena tour in 2012 and described the UK jaunt as a "massive step" in his career.
However, the 27-year-old said that he didn't want to hide his vocal abilities behind an elaborate production.
"As I'm a bit of a showman and an entertainer I don't think I need to elaborate with the production and have loads of dancers and make it flamboyant," he explained.
