Burnett, who works on The X Factor, had Boyle stay at her home while they recorded the LP.
"She came to stay with me, we had breakfast, had a little schedule and then we break for our lunch," Burnett told the BBC. "It was all very easy-going and we had a lovely time learning them that way."
Speaking about the song choices, which include 'Daydream Believer', 'You'll See' and 'Wild Horses', she said: "She had an input into them. People made suggestions and she made suggestions... It was just a general input."
Burnett added: "[Susan] lives to sing. Being interviewed and talking, she'll do that, but it's not what she's doing it for. When she sings, she becomes a confident person. Singing is her absolute passion.
"There was always that amazing voice and what we've worked on together is get control of that voice to get subtlety and do lovely soft beautiful sounds that maybe before she wouldn't have been able to do. We've just polished an amazing talent."
I Dreamed A Dream is expected to land the UK number one spot this weekend.
