The Australian forklift driver-turned-musician, who was crowned champion of the first series of reality talent contest The X Factor in 2010, has returned to the recording studio after being rocked by a series of scandals this year.
Childs's career soared immediately after The X Factor, with his self-titled debut album going platinum. Soon afterwards, however, his home was ransacked by police and his manager was charged in connection to drugs and weapons found during the raid.
The star later admitted that he was broke and engaged to a teenage fan who he met on Facebook. He was also attacked by a group of "haters" after a live performance in February.

It was thought that his record label Sony would dump Childs earlier this year, but instead they have reportedly found him a new potential number one hit.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Childs will return on September 16 with 'Ordinary Man', a song written by Ryan Tedder, the man behind Leona Lewis's 'Bleeding Love' and Jordin Sparks's 'Battlefield'.
