The 22-year-old has taken a break from his role as Ramsay Street's Ringo Brown to promote his single 'Broken' and as-yet-untitled debut disc, which is due out next year.
Discussing his new project in an interview with TV Soap, Clark explained: "I've always struggled to put my music in one particular field. The best I can come up with is that it's a cross between Nickelback and Bryan Adams.
"But that still doesn't really cover it. I think it's filling a gap that's currently present and that's very exciting."
The soap star also vowed to stay optimistic in the face of critics who have doubted his musical credibility.
He insisted: "I've played music most of my life. This has been a project of mine for a very long time, even before Neighbours came along. I've tried to just put all that back into the music and hopefully people will see that."
