'X Factor' USA Astro: 'I don't have a contract with Jay-Z'

By
Former X Factor USA contestant Brian 'Astro' has denied rumours that he has signed a recording contract with Jay-Z.

The 15-year-old rapper, who was eliminated from the singing competition on Thursday, said that he has never been approached by Jay-Z or his Roc Nation label but is not currently concerned with being signed.

"I don't have a check or a contract, so as far as I know, I'm not signed," Astro told MTV News.

"I have never met anyone from Roc Nation. I'd love to, but I'm not signed right now to anyone. Nobody ever hit me up about that - just go on the Internet and it's up there. But I'm not signed as far as I know."

Astro, who recently predicted that he will become the next big hip hop artist, went on to say that he is looking forward to taking the next steps in his career.

"I just want to be in a place where I'm comfortable 100%. I just want to be able to release my music, do my movies, [and] everything is fair," he said.

"I just want to be able to have fun doing it. I don't want music to be a job for me; I want it to be something I'm doing for fun. As long it's not a job then you're straight."

Astro's former mentor LA Reid recently claimed that the teen is already established and will enjoy great success in the music industry.
