Amaro was crowned the winner of the Fox singing competition during Thursday night's live finale, beating out runner-up Josh Krajcik and third place winner Chris Rene to take home a $5 million recording contract.
Ne-Yo, who performed with Pitbull during the broadcast, offered words of wisdom to the 18-year-old singer as she embarked upon her professional career while speaking to reporters following the result.
"Make sure that you keep - that big family that she has - keep them close because they'll keep you grounded," he said. "They'll keep your head right. Yes men, you'll get no points for those. See what they did to Britney. See what happens."
Ne-Yo went on to say that his own family allows him to keep from getting too carried away with his own success, adding: "My sister calls me every day and tells me how ugly I am and it keeps my feet on the ground, absolutely."
Amaro has said that she needed mentor Simon Cowell to be tough on her and that she would not have won the competition without him.
