'X Factor' USA Astro on record deal: 'LA Reid and I will make history'

By
X Factor USA finalist Brian 'Astro' Bradley has said that signing with Epic Records was a predictable choice.

The 15-year-old rapper inked a deal with X Factor mentor LA Reid's label this week, following in the footsteps of winner Melanie Amaro and fellow finalists Marcus Canty and Chris Rene.

Appearing on MTV's Rap Fix Live, Astro said that he was looking forward to continuing his professional relationship with Reid, who he feels is the best person to lead him through the beginning stages of his career.

"I'm just excited 'cos now I feel ilke it's actually a job. I'm 15 and I can say I'm flyin' here to work on an album. It's exciting for me," he explained.

"A lot of people probably predicted it, but I'm signed! It's awesome, man. I'm real close to LA and the first time he met me, he told me I could do TV shows. He believed in me and that's what I respect most about him. He's responsible for a lot of stars in the game today, so the fact that I have a man like him helping me with my career means a lot."

Asked if he felt that Reid would allow him to follow his own direction as an artist, Astro replied: "I'm sure he'll let me go free. I'm real comfortable with LA so when we work together, it's great. We're gonna make history. LA is like family. He's a real cool, humble dude and like an older brother to me. It feels good to be in a place with him."

X Factor boss Simon Cowell hinted in December that several of the show's finalists would be given record deals within the coming months.
