The star, who features on the cast's rendition of 'Last Christmas', said getting the Christmas number one would be "crazy" and believes they are in with a good chance of winning the race.
In an interview behind the scenes of the song's music video, Joey Essex said: "I don't feel like Justin Bieber - I still feel like Joey Essex, but I feel different. It's a lot of fun today.
"It's good, it's weird and different. If it goes to number one it would be crazy... it would have a big impact. X Factor is our only competitor... but it's 50/50 that we could win it."
TOWIE's 'Last Christmas' is currently number 20 on the midweek chart, while the Military Wives lead the tally with their charity single 'Wherever You Are'.
