Frampton, who won second place on the first season of The Voice, explained to AOL Music that the title was inspired by her and her sister, who both say the phrase when "complaining about something" while "it's a beautiful day outside".
She claimed that 'Don't Kick the Chair' is another way of saying "don't give up".
Written with Busbee and Julie Frost, 'Don't Kick the Chair' also features rapper Kid Cudi.
"It was a pleasure having Kid Cudi on this song," Frampton said. "I'm a fan of his work and also am very happy with the positive lyrics he created. This song has a dark undertone, but overall, I wanted it to be optimistic."
'Don't Kick the Chair' is featured on Frampton's upcoming album Red, which is expected to drop in stores on December 6.
Earlier this month, Frampton unveiled the music video for her single 'The Broken Ones'.
Frampton will hit the road with her Voice mentor Blake Shelton on his Well Lit & Amplified tour in 2012.
