'The Voice' UK's Cleo Higgins: 'I'd love a Cleopatra reunion'

The Voice UK's Cleo Higgins has said that she would love to record and tour with Cleopatra.

The 31-year-old singer told Digital Spy that she would happily reunite with her sisters and produce "one final album".

"We never got to say goodbye to our fans," she explained. "The Spice Girls said goodbye. S Club said goodbye. Cleopatra just vanished.

"It's a strange situation because the public seemed to love the fact that I was from Cleopatra when I appeared on The Voice.

"It would be nice for the fans to do one album, one tour and add closure to that part of my life."

When asked why she didn't choose the easy option and reform the band for an appearance on The Big Reunion, Higgins said that she felt being in the group "clouded" her ambitions.

"I actually don't see The Big Reunion as the easy option. When I'm on my own I can control myself, but with the girls, we're on fire," she explained.

"We have great chemistry and people love it, but it takes my control away from myself.

"I could never realise my dream of being a solo artist either, because the group would cloud me. It's clouded me for a long time.

"I now have my opportunity to be who I want to be without the ties of Cleopatra."

Higgins also said that she saw The Voice as a way to gain exposure.

"I've been hiding away from the public eye for a long time. I was actually hoping to start off slow and start climbing my way up to a solo career, but then something needed to give," she added.

"I just wanted to get my name out there a bit, and I thought The Voice was perfect for getting me out there as a performer."

Cleo Higgins faces bookies' favourite Leah McFall in the fight to progress as will.i.am's sole act on The Voice's semi-final tomorrow (June 15) at 7pm on BBC One.
