Doctor Who composers Radiophonic Workshop to reunite for one-off gig

By
The composers behind the Doctor Who soundtrack are to reunite for a one-off event.

The Radiophonic Workshop will be celebrated with a day of interviews, lectures, talks and panels, as well as a live performance.

The event will be held at the University of Chichester on Friday, April 11.

Original members Peter Howell, Roger Limb, Dick Mills and Paddy Kingsland will be joined by archivist Mark Ayers and other renowned media experts and electronic musicians, to honour the group's 55-year career.

A concert will be held at the university's Showroom Theatre, including the chance to hear the Doctor Who theme played in full, along with other tracks related to the BBC sci-fi series.

The BBC Radiophonic Workshop was created in 1958 to produce music and sound effects for radio and TV. It was eventually closed down in 1998.

Their back catalogue will soon be reissued on vinyl and CD, while an album of new compositions titled Electricity will be released later this year.
