Speaking to Seventeen magazine, Meester revealed that she explores a variety of musical genres on the forthcoming release.
"I'm working with a band right now, doing a lot of acoustic music through singing and writing," she said. "It's really fun and fulfilling."
The Gossip Girl actress further explained that she uses music to work out conflicts in her personal life.
"It's an expression of what I have in my life and what I'm going through, or what I have gone through, and of course, it's mostly about love or relationships. The ups and downs that come along, which I think are universal," the star noted.
Meester previously scored a US top ten single with her contribution to Cobra Starship's 'Good Girls Go Bad' in 2009.
Love Is A Drug is expected to be released in 2011.
