The 2008 runner-up told Parade that he wanted to have all sorts of people listening to his songs.
Archuleta said: "A lot of people watch that show and it's such a diverse audience. Families watch the show - all ages. I think people give music they normally wouldn't listen to a chance.
"It's also a great example of the idea that music doesn't have boundaries. I wouldn't want my music to be enjoyed only by one group."
He added: "Music has been a blessing in my life, so it's neat to know that being able to share music with other people can do something for them - that I'm not the only person benefiting from it.
"I think that's the point of music, being able to share, being able to communicate."
