Kris Allen shares advice with Lee DeWyze

Kris Allen has reportedly offered advice to the newest American Idol winner Lee DeWyze.

The 'Live Like We're Dying' star - who scooped the season eight title - was asked by MTV News if he had any words of wisdom for season nine champion DeWyze as he prepares to record his debut album.

"I feel like I learned so much during that recording process, but yet I still didn't know a lot. I would just say [to him], ask a lot of questions, especially of those producers and all of those people that you work with, whether it's the writers or producers," he replied.

"Just ask a lot of questions and figure out stuff, because I feel like I would just sit there and be like, 'OK, you're awesome'... Be humble, but get involved too."

DeWyze - who previously described Allen as a "really cool guy" after the pair met at the Idol finale event last month - recently revealed that he will be working on his first record while touring with the rest of the American Idol Top 10 this summer.

The multi-city tour kicked off in Detroit last night.
