The singer, who appeared on the tenth season of the Fox competition, will release his debut record on November 21, which includes a collaboration with Mick Mars of Mötley Crüe on the track 'Outcast'.
Durbin, who is a Mötley Crüe fan, said in a press release: "When Mick Mars started shredding on his guitar I literally lost my mind. He's a true rock legend and he's playing on my record. It doesn't get any cooler than that."
Mars added: "It was sick to have played on James's debut album. To be the only featured guest artist on the record was really cool as I know a lot of others wanted to be on it. James Durbin kicks ass; he's the real deal."
Durbin also collaborated with songwriters James Michael, who has worked with Sixx AM and Mötley Crüe, and Marti Frederiksen, who was worked with Aerosmith and Buckcherry.
Durbin, who co-wrote five tracks on the album, will release single 'Stand Up' to rock radio, while the track 'Love Me Bad' will be released to Top 40. The former song has been chosen as the stadium anthem for the 2011 NFL season.
Memories of a Beautiful Disaster was produced by Howard Benson, who has worked with artists including My Chemical Romance, Motorhead and Daughtry.
Durbin signed with Wind Up Records earlier this year, saying at the time: "They are true music fans that want to see me have a long career as an artist."
He was the fifth season ten contestant to secure a record deal, following in the footsteps of winner Scotty McCreery, runner-up Lauren Alaina and fellow singers Pia Toscano and Haley Reinhart.
