Bad taste again this is a great song

This review is spot on. A cold fish? I'd rather have a cold turkey in my bed. And to those who would rather Madonna - you must be on the EDGE of desperation... This single is pointless. Now, me, I can stand pointless songs as well as the next 18 year old, as long as they're CATCHY. Unfortunately, this pointless song fails to be CATCHY in any way. And yes - Madonna seriously needs to start wearing more clothes. Her new video made my little sister go 'ewww, who's that?' She looked more like the wicked witch of the west, imo. To all the people still hanging onto Madonna just because.. well, for whatever desperate reason... it's time to realise that she's pretty much turned into the Titanic. Boring songs, too much try hard, not enough good stuff to justify it.. Great review! Keep up with the honesty!

love give it 2 me and the album HARD CANDY and think she is getting better with her age i love her old stuff but i am a huge fan of the latest albums confessions on a dance floor . keep it up MDOLA Most young men would probably prefer to wake up with a cold fish next to them!!!! is there need for this comment ?????

i think ur being a bit hard on her, give it to me is a great dance track, and a good pop song which u cant get out of ur head, i agree that its not her best work but its still madonna =D

totally disagree digital spy.. this review and reviewer is ageist and therefore rendering their opinion poppycock.. the song is fabulously catchy and very in the moment.. your reviewers seriously need to develop some taste!! No woman who has stayed the top of her game, and sold over 200million records (and many more as far as im aware, more than celine and nasty mariah) can never be labelled trash or untalented.. definitely kneel before her madgesty x

Eww! I hate her image. It's quite revolting to see her half naked in a video, she makes me sick. How much do they airbrush them wrinkles away? The song and Madonna are absolute trash, period!
Arturos/Warsaw on June 25th, 2008
Don't understand Fletcher's attitude. The song is as catchy as only Madonna's song can be. From the very first listening to "HC" I knew it would be my favourite track on the cd. Outdated? Maybe for you. Dragged out of 2002? I dare say out of 1983 - and that's why it sounds so interesting. Just listen to any of "TFA" songs. I think it's great that she is brave enough to come back to her roots.

Wow, DigitalSpy appear to have let a child write a review! how inventive! Try listening to the song before reviewing it, dear.

I agree with the review, I mean it's one thing being a trend setter to Britney and co, however Madonna strikes me as a desperate granny, uncomfortable to see a lady of her age trying to be sexy and bringing out the cringes. So she has 3 decades of chart topping, however this single is a stinker and so is the video.

Can't say I'm Madonna's number one supporter but I actually think this is her best tune in a long time! I can't really see how the production sounds dated to be honest, it's just very 'now' if you ask me, I love it! Top song.

Alex, I have to disagree with your comments on this one, I think this song is amazing. Yes when you first hear it you think "what has she done?" but it grows on you the more you listen to it.. I do think that you should reconsider you 2 star up to at least a 4 or you could do one better and give her a 5!

All of you, kneel before Your Madgesty!!!!!!!
makson on June 24th, 2008
Good review that is very accurate. The song does sound very dated and the production also sounds cheap.

I totally agree with this review. Madonna's music has become so bland, anybody could do it. Use some whispery thin vocals over a produced beat. And as for Madonna being sexy, was she ever?
Paul Young on June 23rd, 2008
Such a generous review. I think it's an absolutely shocking song. I'm not her biggest fan but I'm not a hater either. Hard Candy has some great songs but this is definitely not one of them. One of the most overrated and cringeworthy songs of 2008.
AJ, Reading on June 23rd, 2008
Very ageist review indeed... If this music on this single is pulled straight from 2002... where on earth is a lot of the other appalling dross we have to endure in the charts from?? Anywhere from the 1960s to the 1990s. The fact of the matter is, is that that most music these days can't be called 21st century in style as most of it rips off what artists and groups were doing decades ago! The fact that this single is already in the Top 20 without a physical or remix release (one of the remixes is by Fedde Le Grande), shows that people like this tune, and Madonna is as popular as she ever was!
Steven Thompson Herne Bay on June 23rd, 2008
It's bit bland to be honest, it just doesn't suit Madonna doing hip hop.
Martin Conroy on June 23rd, 2008
I have to agree with Rory. I find the review completley mad! I mean i could understand if he was talking about a 1 hit wonder, but this woman has been around for 3 decades being a trend setter with everything she does. This is a wicked track which always gets me in the mood to dance. As for her age, i don't see anyone in the Media complaining that Prince and Michael Jackson are the same age. This is an ageist "review" and Alex should really re-evaluate the word "Entertainment Reporter" I think Madonna has alotgoing for her that alot of the bands and pop stars don't have. Lets see how many of todays artist last as long as Madonna has! Roll on the next 3 decades!
Queen B T, Paisley on June 23rd, 2008
Erm Alex......i'm assuming you can count no higher than the 2 stars you allocated!!! How you can possibly say 'Give It To Me' is outdated is beyond me. I will also assume your negative remarks regarding her looks is nothing but jealousy!!!
Rory, Scotland on June 23rd, 2008
5 stars for the single, zero for this rather offensive review. Most of the review above is just an assortment of personal insults, which are very ageist and sexist in tone. I find it weird that people should go on about how Madonna's career is supposedly in decline when she's just had a single at number one for four weeks and a mere 3 years ago had her biggest selling hit of all time (Hung Up). Anyway, Give it 2 Me is a great tune: irresitably catchy, fun and tongue in cheek. I can't wait to see her perform it live in September!
QB, England on June 23rd, 2008
What an ageist and sexist review - Alex Fletcher's *career* in journalism is obviously headed nowhere. As for GI2M - it's okay but their are stronger tracks on the album.
Alan, Cork on June 23rd, 2008
It's only ok. This song is a general summing up of her current album actually, kind of bland. It's also weird that she's chosen to release this when a track like 'Devil Wouldn't Recognise You' is on her album, just waiting to be released.
Matt, Blackpool, Lancs on June 23rd, 2008
Im 16, and to be honest i would rather have her in my bed, than a 'cold fish' !, She's looking incredibly well for 49, and i don't see why so many people complain.... i mean i haven't heard anyone complain over Kim Cattrall's nude scenes in SATC. I love this new single, hopefully it will knock coldplay of the number one spot they never should have recieved!
