By Nick Levine | Timbaland and Danjahandz may have stolen their 'World's Most In Demand Producers' crown, but The Neptunes aren't exactly going to seed. Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo have contributed to recent albums by Madonna, Usher, Mary J. Blige, Ashlee Simpson
and Britney - and now, after a four-year hiatus, they've revived their rock-leaning side-project
N.E.R.D.
'Everyone Nose', the lead single from the group's
Seeing Sounds album, is a typically inventive Neptunes production: a clattering industrial-funk-hip-hop rumpus whose lyrics take a sly dig at coke-snorting Hollywood party girls. (Hence the punning title – geddit?) It's a triumph of beats over melody, but few would deny that those beats sound pretty good as they're dropping.
