Ironik: 'Stay With Me'
DJ/MC/producer Ironik wrote 'Stay With Me' for his little sister - "fuelled by his fear for her growing up in a society rife with knife crime and violence", according to the press release. It's a decent enough idea for a song - topical and sure to tug at the heartstrings - but his execution leaves much to be desired.

The problem? Ironik plasters a gimmicky "chipmunk" vocal all over 'Stay With Me', a tactic that cheapens his message and reduces the track to little more than novelty. Truth be told, this would be a flat, rather dated UK garage slowie without the vocal, but with it 'Stay With Me' becomes irritating too. That's about par for the course for a man who styles himself Ironik with a 'k', we suppose.

the songs got a good message we all have to admit but as a track on the whole it's awful. it sounds life they couldn'y find backing singers so they got a bunch of chipmunks to go into a studio and sing on the record instead!!!!!

I think it's a great track. A real tearjerker with the chipmunk adding to the emotion bigstyle. Good one Ironik - Respect.

Awful. The chipmunk effect is out of date (not that I ever liked it). Very poor lyrics and delivery as well. Terrible video (he looks wooden as hell). I am actually amazed that he could get a record deal with the talent that must surely be out there. In my mind the benchmark is imagining if Americans would laugh at something or not. I think Americans would laugh at this, but not the current Dizzee Rascal single (which doesn't sound American but is clearly good).

The acoustic version is much the better version, the vocal from Ny is soulful and adds to Ironik's lyrics. I'm no chav and think that this is a track well worth adding to your iTunes library.

Rob, I think your talking about the acoustic version featuring NY. Its on iTunes availible to download now. In my opinion its much better than the original and is without that irritating chipmunk.
