Dizzee Rascal ft. Calvin Harris: 'Dance Wiv Me'
A collaboration between irritating, 80s-obsessed singer Calvin Harris and UK grime merchant Dizzee Rascal sounds on paper like a pretty horrendous proposition. When news leaked that the pair had created a "party banger", most people's heads sank further. Had the project been drawn up solely to prevent history from viewing Dizzee's Band Aid 20 cameo as the low-point of his career?

But 'Dance Wiv Me' isn't a disaster - shockingly, it's actually rather good. Alright, Dizzee's lyrics about "working it" behind "your backbone" are hardly the most appetising, but his harsh London twang actually complements the stuttering dance beat and ludicrously funky bass. Even Harris, who contributes some typically deadpan vocals, comes out of the project shining. With oodles of airplay and a possible number one chart placing, this track is one of 2008's most unlikely smashes.

Just read the other reviews. Deary me. What do the ones that gave this tune the thumbs down listen 2 then? Leona Lewis, Chris Brown. Is that the best they can muster? I'm not not knocking the voice of Leona or the crispness of Mr Brown but some people don't know a winner when its in front of them. Don't go betting at the races guys...

Dizzee is not a "rapper." He is a grime artist. Dizzee is the way forward... embrace

I can't believe this song is number one. There are so many better songs out there. This sounds like a crap rapper talking about nonsense with a beat in the background.

Totally agree with Ben on this one, if this is the new 'age' of music, then it really is just plain rubbish. What ever happened to NORMAL music, not 'this' that doesn't even need vocals in it, just throw in some no good rapper who does nothing except think he can 'sing', next thing you know, teenagers will be carrying knives around because they think their all rappers. Oh no wait, yeah that's already happened hasn't it?

I LOVE this track!!!!! I agree that the pairing of Calvin and Dizzee does sound dreadful on paper, but it makes for some pretty ace music!

This song is bloody brilliant! It's a great track to dance and sing along to, their verses mix so well and the beat is mint. This will be number 1, I can just tell.
