CSS: 'Left Behind'
Brazilian electropoppers CSS only finished hawking their Cansei de Ser Sexy album eight months ago, but they're already back and raring for another crack at the charts. The Sub Pop act's mixture of twee production and smutty lyrics has won them plenty of affection from critics, but proper hit singles have thus far proved elusive.

The band are no doubt hoping to buck that trend with 'Left Behind', the first proper release from their impending Donkey LP. Unfortunately, despite some suitably mucky synths and hushed vocals from singer Lovefoxxx, this lacks the killer hook or juicy chorus necessary to make it a smash. Whether the restraint is a deliberate ploy on the band's part is unclear. A tad poppy for indie circles, but too lo-fi for daytime radio, CSS are in danger of pleasing nobody but themselves.

I have to agree with the DS reviewer here. It's a good track but it does lack the killer hook or catchy chorus. However, after a few listens to the track it does begin to grown on you. What is odd about this release is that there's no video, other than a fan made one or Friday Night with Jonathan Ross appearance. Their free download only single "Rat Is Dead" is much better.
