Roisin Murphy: 'Movie Star'

'Overpowered' LP

Roisin Murphy's latest video features a number of memorable scenes: Roisin scrapping with London scene queen Jodie Harsh; Roisin strutting down a leafy residential street with her ridiculous fashionista mates; Roisin being attacked by a giant lobster. It's witty, stylish and like nothing else that's around at the moment - much like the single itself.

Actually, 'Movie Star' is possibly Murphy's most immediate moment yet, a trancey dance-pop epic with a chorus that reaches for the stars. The lyrics, which tell the tale of an ambitious starlet desperate to "break into cinema", are sharp and amusing too. With her equally impressive previous singles, 'Let Me Know' and 'You Know Me Better', failing to make much of an impact, Murphy seems destined to remain a cult favourite, but for those in the know she's an absolute delight.
