Chicane vs. Natasha Bedingfield: 'Bruised Water'
Bucks-born DJ Nick Bracegirdle doesn't seem to care that his trance project Chicane has a tendency to repeat itself. Following on from 1999's 'Salt Water' and 2003's snazzily-titled 'Salt Water 2003', he's now got round to releasing his Clannad-sampling Ibiza favourite for a third time - this time it's called 'Bruised Water'.

Bracegirdle has updated the chill-out classic by replacing Celtic folk star Máire Brennan with 21st century popstar Natasha Bedingfield, who warbles her 2005 power ballad 'I Bruise Easily' over the top. The synths have also been spruced-up a bit, presumably to please a new generation of dance fans more used to Basshunter's beats than Ministry of Sound collections. The result? A mediocre splurge that doesn't do justice to either Bedders or Chicane.
