It's hard to tell whether the new Pussycat Dolls
single is supposed to be satirical, autobiographical or both. "When I was young I wanted attention," sings Nicole Scherzinger on the first verse of this fame-themed track. "And I promised myself that I'd do anything, anything at all for the boys to notice me." If you've ever seen one of the group's "provocative" videos, you'll surely agree.
But, snigger as we may, there's no denying that the Dolls have hit upon a winning formula - their debut album has now shifted an astonishing seven million copies. 'When I Grow Up', the lead single from album number two, is a bolshy, hyperactive pop stomper that works just as well in the aerobics class as it does on the dance-floor. If they keep releasing singles as infectious as this, they could last longer than we'd think.> Click here to watch the 'When I Grow Up' video
