Noah & The Whale: '5 Years Time'
No band that names itself Noah & The Whale is expecting to make the big time. It's not a moniker you can imagine plastered on motorway billboards or being hollered by a packed crowd at Wembley Stadium. Yet this very group, who count a fiddle player and a chap called Urby Whale who plays harmonium among their number, appear to have crafted one of the sleeper hits of 2008.

'5 Years Time', a rather twee anti-folk number, won't be to everyone's tastes. The chirpy whistled intro and Jack Johnson-style guitar work will grate after repeated listens, while the children's storytime lyrics about zoos and elephants tread a fine line between harmless fun and irritating whimsy. Fortunately, thanks to its innocent enthusiasm and a gorgeous cameo from Laura Marling, this track rises above the sum of its parts to offer a gentle, charming summer listen.

It's not often I give away 5 stars but I think this song deserves it. Its lovely, folksy, and playful.
