Madcon: 'Beggin'

On paper it sounds fairly horrendous. Madcon, a Norwegian hip-hop duo who've appeared on their country's version of Strictly Come Dancing, are chancing it on these shores with a cover of an old Franki Valli hit. And it gets worse. The track they've had a crack at, 'Beggin', returned to the charts in remixed form as recently as last summer.

But, against the odds, this version of 'Beggin' pretty much hits the spot. Madcon - that's short for Mad Conspiracy, you know - have given this old chestnut a fresh, funky reworking that will appeal to fans of Gnarls Barkley and anything touched by the golden fingers of Mark Ronson. It's far from life-changing, but this is sure to do the business at Sunday afternoon barbeques if the weather holds out over the next few weekends.
