Cyndi Lauper: 'Into The Nightlife'
You could never accuse Cyndi Lauper of lacking balls. In recent years she's tried everything from pop standards to covering her own back catalogue with Jeff Beck and Shaggy in tow. Now, at the age of 55, she's just released her first dance album, the actually very good Bring Ya To The Brink.

The jewel in the album's crown is 'Into The Nightlife', a joyous filter disco track with a brilliantly whooshy chorus. It's tempting to (over) analyse why it works so well - the breaking glass effect at the beginning of the chorus is especially ace - but ultimately it's pretty simple. This is the sort of song that makes you want to dance like no-one's watching you every time you hear it.

This is probably the most understated relaunch of anyone's pop career but WOW what a relaunch At 55 years old it would have been easy for Cyndi to bow out gracefully after a reasonably successful career but oh no. She has hit back with a sensational dance album which is truly fantastic. I am a verteran of the dance scene and was a bit wary to begin with of adding this to my download collection but i'm so glad i did. The album is not too commercially sounding and the feature track 'into the nightlife' is so catchy and will stick in your mind for ever. I want to hear this album everywhere i go and it's played all the time on my ipod at the gym Keep givin' it to us Cyndi

Typical of this country, A fantasitic new song great album and non chart in our charts. I think it's pretty obvious that people bought both single and album. I think the UK Radio stations or tv channels did not plug this enough. It trashs Madonna's album but as it's not unusual that this album and single will sadly yet again be missed out in the UK. Hail to the Crap that's forced onto us by the UK Music scene that's played over and over and over!!!

Great song, but baffled as to why the album has been out for 2 months now, and the first single has just been released! Not enough airplay suggests it'll be lucky to get into the top 40, which is a shame really!

Absolute corker of a single, and definitely worthy of being her first single release in over 10 years... But how will it do in the UK? Not so well, I am guessing. Her album was poorly promoted and I don't see why they will push the single, if they can't be bothered to push the whole collection of tracks on Bring Ya To The Brink...? Could possibly become the most underrated single of 2008.

Love Cyndi and this is a great song. People say Madonna is the queen of reinvention - I beg to differ! :-)

WOOO you answered my prayers. "Into the nightlife" is 5 :D I just hope that the people from Great Britian will give her a chance to have a spot at the top 10 or EVEN #1. GO CYNDI, HELL YEAH BABY!
