The Zutons: 'What's Your Problem'
Spiky and full of sax, 'What's Your Problem' is pretty much exactly what you'd expect from The Zutons. This latest single, the second from their You Can Do Anything album, is easy to like but difficult to get really passionate about. The Scouse group have mastered the art of weaving a narrative into their songs - be it the flame-haired object of affection in 'Valerie' or a fading friendship in their early, Beatlesy single 'Remember Me' - but this track lacks a compelling story.

Frontman Dave McCabe seems to be singing about an angry confrontation with a former girlfriend, but his lyrics are too vague to really hit home. "Cause when I looked at your face, it made me shiver and shudder," he croons rather dismissively, "It weren't a beautiful face, but it was that of a woman." The swirling mass of sound that The Zutons create works best when it's supported by smart lyrics and a whimsical tale of relationship woes. 'What's Your Problem' is pleasant enough, but it lacks the edge or insight of their better singles.
