Will Young: 'Changes'
Will Young kicked off his last album campaign with a noisy, clattering single and a video that sent up the homo-erotic elements of Top Gun (i.e. most of it). This time around, having been away from the charts for nearly two-and-a-half years, he's taking no chances, leading with a very tasteful, very adult pop song.

Actually, 'Changes' is a close-ish relation to James Morrison's 'You Give Me Something' - no surprise really, seeing as both were penned by chart-friendly songwriter Eg White. Excitement is conspicuous in its absence, but there's an intriguing hint of desolation lurking just beneath the radio gloss ("Hope my life changes, gets alright somehow") and, like Young himself, this has class and dignity to burn.

"Class and dignity" is right, but any comparison with James Morrison is superficial (Will's been a star for nearly 7 years so who's copying who?) Changes is a delicious blend of light and dark. It's a perfect song for those days when nothing's going right and you want a bit of inspiration to lift your spirits.

To be honest I don't like it, and I've loved some of his older stuff. I just think it's dull and boring, after two and a half years I was expecting something a bit better.

Changes as very meaningful words which fit well with the video. Wills voice gets more soulful than ever before, he is unique in the field of pop music. Changes will be a classic.

Like everything Will has done since Friday's Child, this has class stamped all over it. I adore his vocal on this track. A good intro to his 4th studio album. That's what I'm really waiting for.

What a rip off, he uses none of the lyrics or melody from the Bowie original. It's un-recognisable!

Changes is mature, aimed at adults a really good pop song. Young is a cut above other similiar British Male Soloists in the UK at the moment, Great song, Good video, Brillant singer
