AC/DC: 'Rock 'N' Roll Train'

'Black Ice' LP

Lyrics about "Southern belles" and "runaway trains", riffs bigger than Blackpool Tower and vocals from a man who sounds like he uses Jack Daniels as mouthwash can only mean one thing: AC/DC, the best rock 'n' roll band ever to patrol the stage in school uniforms, are back. The Darkness and Jack Black's comic rockers Tenacious D have tried filling in for the Aussies, but like imitation cola and Elvis tribute acts, they never got close to the genius of the originals.

Eight years on from their last album, the Young Brothers, Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd have returned with another humongous slab of filthy rock that doesn't veer from the template that's served them royally for 35 years. It's loud, simple and a million times more thrilling than anything Johnny Borrell or Pete Doherty have ever recorded. On this evidence, AC/DC are just as stupidly perfect as ever.

It's AC/DC. That's all you need to know. Like Motorhead and wine, it gets better with age.

AC/DC - legends! Another great dose of rock n roll from the masters themselves. Indie bands should take note - this is AUTHENTIC rock music.

Good to know not all reviewers on this site hate rock music. I'm gonna see them in April! :)
