Razorlight: 'Wire To Wire'

Razorlight's last album may have gone quadruple platinum, but not everyone's a fan of the Anglo-Swedish four-piece. This is due in no small part to frontman Johnny Borrell, who's earned himself a reputation as a prize wally by claiming the band's debut was better than Bob Dylan's and generally appearing onstage wearing nothing but a pair of skinny white jeans.

Borrell takes centre stage on 'Wire To Wire', the lead single from album number three, his bandmates reduced to a few cymbal taps and piano tinkles. Sadly, his voice isn't subtle enough to carry the tune, shifting between deep cries and strangled falsetto with little warning or purpose. This is polite and tuneful enough for Radio 2, so Razorlight's accountants have nothing to worry about, but their singer is rapidly becoming the noughties equivalent to Sting.
