Leona Lewis: 'Forgive Me'

'Forgive Me', co-written and produced by Akon, sounds like something Whitney Houston could have recorded in the late-eighties - specifically, it sounds a bit like 'I'm Your Baby Tonight'. The chorus is catchy enough, and Lewis certainly sounds good, but the adultery-themed lyrics are a poor match for the sweet, unassuming Hackney girl. "If his love don't pass the test," she sings, "I gotta get it from someone else." Now, do you believe her?

i actually really like this song, better in time for me was a bit , bland, but this song was fun, and bright. a nice change from intese balladry.

the song is great and should ave been number 2 atleast its a breath of fresh air from the normal whitney stile ballads turning into a christina pop song.

i like this song, it's catchy and fun but it's not like abnything on her debut album where it has a diifferent style to "Forgive Me" putting that aside i like the song and i'm glad it has made the top ten!

i agree with ur review i hated her in the x- factor but then when she won i though she did better with her album spirit but now shes just killed it and i must admit she looks like an horse in that picture and the lyrics are awful.

Very catchy....my fave Leona track so far...prob cos her whiny voice is covered in backing vocals for the most part

Jon, Essex, what I was trying to say was that even if the song lyrics are bad, does it REALLY make you enjoy the song less? And I think the Irish charts are a much better reflection of music quality than the UK to be honest. I mean how many No.1's has Mcfly has in the UK now, seven or eight?? My point entirely.

Leona can do no wrong! Sure, it's no Bleeding Love but it's still a great track! Can't wait for the deluxe album to come out so I can get my hands on her AMAZING cover of Snow Patrol's "Run"!

Can't say I like this song, the tune is too fair groundy (and not in a good way) and the lyrics are just nasty. She's asking for forgiveness for cheating while at the same time trying to justify it? HA? It doesn't really suit her voice. She can do better!!

Alan, Cork - 'Nobody actually listens to the lyrics you know' What a ridiculous comment to make! Of course people listen to the lyrics. Also, being number 5 in Ireland is hardly anything to shout about. This effort is okay at best. Just misses the spot on all counts for me i'm afraid.

Sorry Leona i can never forgive you for the awful 'Bleeding Love' and your terrible mass produced pile of garbage that was your album. And no, this isn't any better.

Alan, Cork. Alot of people agree with the reviews on here. So what if the song is Number 5 in Ireland?? Doesn't make it a great song. I just think Leona can do better than this. I feel like she's jumping through hoops with a template of what Simon Cowell thinks is marketable! She can do alot better than this!! Top 15 at least. In the US and the UK.

Sorry but this has to be the worst single Leona has done, As to me its to much like an old whitney from the 80s. And Her diction is really terrible in this song and the Video is terrible.

Looks like she's trying to sound too American and may alienate her fans in the UK like Joss Stone did

I think this song is not as good as her earlier singles which I would all rate a '5'. It is a catchy song but it doesn't sound like the Leona we know from X Factor, sounds very American. Maybe something Jennifer Lopez or Gwen Stefani would record? But still a good effort. I am sure it will be Top 5. And by the way I wouldn't consider "Bleeding Love" a ballad, I would therefore say this is her second up-tempo single. And her 5th actually as "Footprints In The Sand" was also a single.

Diction has always been terrible. Perhaps she also speaks this way. However, she must be good because everybody seems to think so except me.
