Pussycat Dolls: 'I Hate This Part'

It's hard not to admire how far the Pussycat Dolls have come since starting life as a Las Vegas dance troupe. After a seismic lineup reconfiguration and crafty reinvention as a "musical supergroup", the Dolls scored five top ten hits from their 2006 debut, PCD, including the number one smash 'Don't Cha'. It's fair to say, therefore, that they weren't being modest when they named their follow-up Doll Domination.

'I Hate This Part', the album's second single, finds the girls slowing down the pace, but by no means putting a halt to their momentum. Nestling somewhere between a festive ballad and a grinding R&B/dance number, 'I Hate This Part' - as the title suggests – is about that difficult moment when a romance runs aground. With super-sleek production and an emotion-packed vocal from Nicole Scherzinger, this should be a fixture on many pop fans' iPods come Christmas time.
