Subtle it ain't, but not even a very grumpy Louis Walsh could fail to be impressed by the Hackney girl's performance. She wrings every last drop of emotion out of Gary Lightbody's lyrics, channelling her inner Mariah for some almighty warbling at the crescendo, which thankfully overshadows the predictable backing swathe of strings. Lewis has decribed 'Run' as a song about "hope" and "facing your fears" and it's fair to say that, whatever your opinions on the X Factor champ, she's captured those feelings here.
