I hate it, to the guy who said that the Snow Patrol version has 'no emotion' well yes- the form echoes the meaning. If you listen to Snow Patrol's albums it's clear that they have trouble expressing emotions, that's the whole point. Which is why they are breaking up in the song. Leona on the other hand seems to have no probem expressing her emotions, all the songs are the same old ballads, you can't even distinguish the meaning as they are all so samey, at least SP can!

Drivell!

She's a brilliant singer, but the producing is godawful. Whose bright idea was it to put those loud strings, percussions and a soaring damn-if-i-don't-drown-everything-out choir at the end?? Totally ruined it. I liked the Snow Patrol one, I thought the x-factor live one was great, I don't think originals are always better, but this one has been totally destroyed.

This is a great version. Better than snow patrol but i credit them for writing this beautiful song. Those who said that the last part is whiny, overdone or what, well you can't just appreciate it. The last part is the climax of the song and the most emotional part. She belt it out as a sign of conviction to what she's singing. It is like, she's trying to search for something and she finally found the hope so that's why she's overwhelmed and belt it out to express her feelings. the song is properly done. i really feel the emotion when i listen to this version, i'm sorry but the snow patrol version sounds so generic to me and i felt nothing.

Shame she didn't write the song otherwise she may be able to sing it better
Carmel, Liverpool on December 9th, 2008
Snow Patrol song defo better. She is an alright singer but she aint that good. Original is way way way better. Her performance on X Factor was hard to understand

I've heard the snow partol, one it's bland boring the guy's singing sounds like he is miserable so how anyone with earing can say the orignal was better than the cover seriously needs to listen to this version.
hhhh on December 8th, 2008
Does not even compare to snowpatrol

Awesome cover! awesome voice! Awesome girl!
Essy, Somerset on December 7th, 2008
It's alright, but I feel like she overdoes the chorus so it comes out whiny. Snow Patrol's song is much better, though I was impressed with it on the X Factor a couple of weeks ago.

Leona Lewis is an excellent artist but this ain't her song. I shall definitely not be choosing this over the original Snow Patrol version
scott on December 6th, 2008
this makes you appreciate how good the original version is
Kate, North London on December 6th, 2008
She's got Mariah syndrome where every song she sings sounds milked and overboard. Ruined the song by warbling it as she does every other. Why do people insist on covering songs that were fine as they are. Put you hand up if your sick of that overplayed version of Valerie Ronson & AW collaborated on............

kb. utter, bad earing?

Utter nonsense. A Snow Patrol song ruined.

I don't follow Snow Patrol or Leona closely, so fairly ambivalent about them, but when I first heard the original (ages ago) I thought it was a good pop song. Saw Leona Lewis performance on X factor and I was blown away! Real goosebump moment! and she injects a whole load of emotion and soul into the song. So in my opinion, it's superior to the original as I never felt this way about the song before the remake. Props to Snow Patrol for composing the song, but props to Leona aswell for developing the song to its full potential.

dean, georgie , and sandie don't hate. i can understand her beautiful voice. run will get to number one. wherthere snow partol like it or not. i've heard the orginal. frankly, it's a bore comapared to this. leona has plently of talent. frankly if you can't see that then get your ears checked?
David, Cardiff on December 3rd, 2008
This is just a big "up yours" to anyone who's ever said there's no talent on The X Factor!! Truly amazing!
Luke Birmingham on December 3rd, 2008
I love Leona and this is just another one of her great songs. I think this version is 100% better then the Snow Patrol Version... Number 1 on sunday
Paul G, Cardiff on December 3rd, 2008
Don't like Leona Lewis.... but... this has to be the best cover I've heard in years - it's orgininal, and something Gary should be proud to put his name to. Not just for the royalty cheques, but for the exposure it's giving Snow Patrol, and the power that his lyrics have when put outside of Snow Patrol's comfort zone.
Nick - Manchester on December 2nd, 2008
the best ever cover of a song! made into a single by an up-and-coming worldwide superstar
Dean, Barnsley on December 2nd, 2008
Hope she doesn't get to No. 1 but at least Snow Patrol will get loads of money! None of these x factor people have talent n leona is another example
Georgie, London on December 2nd, 2008
Gary Lightbody sang this song better than she ever could. Utter sh*t ruined an awesome song
Sandy, Newcastle on December 2nd, 2008
Awful! I'm not a Snow Patrol fan but I definitely prefer their version. You can't clearly understand what she is singing. She should try and write her own songs or just do other songs! ORIGINALS ARE BETTER THAN COVERS!
Kyle, Nottingham on December 1st, 2008
I really love this version I guess it's because i'm not even a snow patrol fan, but seriously I think this song if full of emotion, all of her songs to me are full of emotion. Since it's already no. 1 in Ireland but i'm hoping it will get no. 1 in the UK too. :D Good Look
David, Bangor on December 1st, 2008
a huge improvement on the original.
Kaje, Birmingham on December 1st, 2008
This song is horrible, prefer the original!
K, Kent on December 1st, 2008
She has a lovely voice when she doesn't over-do the warbling but I have to admit to not being able to hear what she's singing half the time.
RF Den, Igle on December 1st, 2008
This is a brilliant amazing cover and her voice is just magical.....just luv it till death!!
Ryan, Lancaster on December 1st, 2008
I like it but i find the sentiments wholly lost in Leona's version. She makes a song about drug addiction seem a bit like a soulless ballad. Kind of disappointing.
JB, Shropshire on December 1st, 2008
Pure class as always from Leona. I've always liked the original by Snow Patrol, but Leona has made it her own song and its excellent. Leona deserves to be the biggest international female star of our time!
ND on November 30th, 2008
Pretty awesome cover, probably better than the original which I also love.
Missy, LDN on November 30th, 2008
It's a beautiful rendition. Snow Patrol's is good, but I prefer Leona's version because it sounds almost angelic and serene. Love it.
CJ UK on November 30th, 2008
World class star!! Hence why the biggest market in the world bought into her
Kevin, Crawley on November 30th, 2008
Brilliant cover of a brilliant original. She is a complete star and this is so much better than the boring R&B stuff like "Forgive me". She puts so much into it that my eyes well up. If it weren't for the frankly unnecessary choir this would deserve 6 stars.
Kay B'ham on November 30th, 2008
Fantastic.
Paul North Wales on November 30th, 2008
Love Snow Patrols' version and I love Leona's amazing cover, I first heard it on live lounge and I was and still am blown away by it - awesome!!
Thom West Midlands on November 30th, 2008
A truly special cover, I usually don't like them, but Leona does something different with hers - could listen to this for hours.
